The image is all about the process of enlightenment that can happen within the human brain. The opening of inner vision, of in-sight. The stone with which the philosopher builds: wisdom, or Sophia. The word philosophy comes from the greek words "philo" meaning "love of" and "sophia" meaning "wisdom". So the word philosophy means "the love of wisdom".
